The Adventure Begins

Your Balloon ride adventure begins when you check-in. Morning flights meet approximately 30 minutes before sunrise and Evening flights approximately 3 hours before sunset. Seasonal times apply. See our chart below.

Once checked in you will board our vans and be taken to the launch site. The crew quickly unloads the balloon and assembles it for inflation.

Inflation of the balloon is accomplished by motorized fans. Once the envelope is filled with air, the Pilot carefully directs propane burners to heat the air inside the balloon envelope. After just a few minutes the balloon is standing upright and ready for you to board.

Once aboard, your Pilot will introduce you to the flight with a passenger briefing filled with information to help you enjoy the flight and prepare for the landing.

Everyone gets a window seat. Balloon rides have been call "A Nature Walk In The Sky". Get ready, you're about to experience the magic of ballooning.

Up, Up, And Away

As you gently leave the Earth, you'll be amazed at how light the balloon feels. During the flight you have unobstructed 360-degree views, allowing for breathtaking photographs.

To steer the balloon your Pilot will explore a variety of altitudes, from just above the tree tops up to perhaps as high as 3,000 feet. By changing altitude, your pilot is also able to change direction by finding shifts in wind currents.

On our flights we commonly see the Cascade Mountains, Snohomish River, the high rise buildings of downtown Seattle and breathtaking views of Mount Rainier.

Your pilot will point out the occasional Eagles nest, Salmon and Beaver swimming up the river and possibly descend within inches of river, much to everyone's delight, for the best viewing opportunity.

Throughout your balloon flight, the Pilot stays in radio contact with the ground crew. They continuously follow your balloon over and roads so that they can be ready and waiting for you upon landing. Landing sites change with each flight due to the wind speed and directions encountered but we have our favorites.

Once back on the ground, assisted by our crew, the balloon is deflated. All the air is pushed out and the balloon is packed back onto the trailer, ready for the next flight. Join in and help if you like, it will help us get you on to the next portion of your experience faster.  A traditional celebration awaits back at the check-in site.

All riders first time or not will be treated to the legendary "Balloonists Flight Ceremony" that balloonists all over the world have been sharing for more than a century. And finally, to prove your difference from ordinary mortals, you will be inducted into the ballooning society and awarded your "Balloon Flight Wings". A custom designed Balloon Lapel Pin to wear with pride, allowing you to boast your balloon flight adventure to all who see you wear it. A truly unique experience.
